How to Book a Massage

When it comes to booking a therapeutic massage there are a few things that must be taken into consideration. With the plethora of different options one might feel overwhelmed with the decision of choosing the right place and/or massage therapist. Here are a few questions you want to ask yourself.

1. What is the specific reason you are booking a massage?

A. Are you looking to relax and de-stress? If you are trying to relax, then you will want to receive a massage in an environment that will allow you to do so. Spas and in-home massages are great for relaxation. If you decide to book an in-home massage make sure you won’t have any distractions from children or other family members.

B. Are you seeking relief for a specific pain? If you are suffering from chronic pain in a specific area in your body then you want a therapist that has experience and specializes in pain management.

C. Have you been in an automotive accident? If you have been in an automotive accident or slip and fall you want a medical massage therapist. Some medical massage therapists even accept insurance.

D. Are you looking for a gift for a friend or loved one?  Massage makes the perfect gift. Almost any spa or private massage therapist offer gift certificates.

2. Spas vs. In-Home Massage

There are pros and cons to when choosing a spa massage or in-home massage.

A. Spas can offer many different amenities. Steam rooms, saunas, pools, Jacuzzis, locker rooms and relaxation rooms are all perks that many spas may offer. These amenities are wonderful but they do increase the price of the massage. Most spas change $90-$170 for a 60 minute treatment.

B. In-home massage offers the comfort and convenience of not having to leave your home. With high gas prices and bumper to bumper traffic, many people are taking advantage of in-home massage. Depending on your location, in-home massages can range from $60-$100 for a 60 minute massage.

To insure that you get the best massage and service possible always look at reviews for the spa or independent massage therapist before you decide to book with them. The most popular sources for reviews are on Google and Yelp. Asking a friend or family member for a referral to their massage therapist is also a great way to insure you get the best massage possible.
