First Time Clients and Those New to Massage Therapy
If you have never received a professional massage, no need to worry. We make your experience enjoyable and stress-free. The first step? Know your options. When it comes to booking a therapeutic massage, consider the following:
What is the specific reason you want a massage?
A. Do you want to relieve stress and relax?
B. Are you seeking relief for pain?
C. Have you sustained an injury or been in an automotive accident?
Knowing the reason you want a massage will help your massage therapist select the type of massage that is best for you.
The next step is booking your appointment by phone or online.
How to call and book your massage appointment
A. Book your massage appointment in advance. Holidays, weekends, and evening hours are the most popular times for massages. To insure you get the day and time you desire, book your massage 2-3 days in advance.
B. Make sure you book a time you can commit to. Our massage therapists are very busy. We have reserved that spot especially for you. If you cancel at the last minute, we lose money and the opportunity to give the time slot to someone else.
C. Cancellation policies. If you must cancel your massage appointment for any reason, a 24 hour notice is required. You will be charged 50% of the massage fee if you cancel your appointment in less than 24 hours, and 100% if you don’t show up to your appointment. This cancellation policy is an industry standard.
How to prepare for your massage
A. Intake Form. When you book your appointment, we will send you a welcome email. Please fill out your intake form so your massage therapist can customize a massage to your needs. It also lets your massage therapist know your medical history and levels of pain.
B. Dress Comfortably. Wear something that is comfortable and easy to remove. While on the massage table, you will be under a sheet and a blanket; the only section of your body that is exposed is what the therapist is massaging.
The massage process
A. Communicate with your massage therapist. Communication with your massage therapist is key to receiving the maximum benefits from your massage. Let your massage therapist know where your pain is. Indicate if you need more or less pressure.
B. Privacy. IMR Massage, LLC and your massage therapist respect your privacy. Your massage therapist will step out of the room before your session begins to give you ample time to undress to your comfort level and get situated on the massage table under the sheets. Your massage therapist also steps out of the room at the conclusion of your massage to give you time to get dressed.
C. Relax. Your massage is all about you. It is perfectly normal to fall asleep during the massage. Even asleep, your body still receives all the great benefits of therapeutic massage.
Massage therapy focuses on relieving stress, soreness, and pain. Many times it takes more than just one massage session to feel complete relief. Getting a regular weekly massage can do wonders for your health and for easing your work week. Relieving your pain through massage therapy is the perfect step in the right direction to living a joyful and healthy life.
