I was recently in a car accident and experiencing some pain due to whiplash. I knew massage would help, so I took to Yelp to find a local therapist. IMR Massage was a top result, and I decided to book with them (despite their premium prices) based on their glowing reviews specifically for post-accident "medical" massage therapy.
My first visit was an unmitigated disaster - easily the worst massage I have ever received! The "therapist" had a skills commensurate with what I'd expect from a random person off the street. To his credit, he interviewed me about my condition and checked in about pressure preferences, which he accommodated. However, my issue was not the pressure, but his technique. He had only a few moves in his quiver - bluntly rolling a knot in my shoulder back and forth over and over, roughly "plucking" the muscles along my spine against the grain, and rubbing open palms up and down my back. The first two moves became so painful I had to ask him to stop. He then simply rubbed up and down my back for at least 30 minutes - no kneading, no targeted pressure, nothing. I was so shocked and uncomfortable throughout the whole process, I contemplated getting up and leaving. Unfortunately I chose to stay, and ended up in more pain than when I arrived (not "good pain" from grinding things out). When the receptionist asked how my massage was, I took a deep breath and shared that it was a surprisingly painful, disappointing experience. She was very apologetic and offered me a comped session if I would come back for another try, which I accepted.
My second visit was a few days later - and it was great! Michael was my therapist this time around, and he was careful to ask lots of questions, start off slow and gentle, and check in with me throughout the massage. The massage itself was a night-and-day improvement over the first. Michael used several effective techniques that demonstrated his skill as a trained, professional massage therapist. In the end, I felt quite a bit of relief!
I am very grateful for the excellent customer service. IMR took me seriously, and made sure I got what I was looking for. Crap happens - not every service encounter is going to be excellent - but IMR showed their integrity in their desire to make things right.
Would I go back? Yes! Would I recommend IMR? Yes, with one caveat - know your therapist.

I have never had a massage in my entire life so making the decision made me slightly nervous which it should never have because people get massages as a treat to get away and relax. So of the many places I could have chosen I chose IMR because of all the great things I hear about them word of mouth and on social media. I must say I made a great decision! The interior is very nicely decorated and accommodating. It smells very nice as well including complimentary water, tea, and coffee for the clients. Ashley at the front desk was very friendly. My massage therapist Matt was awesome! He made my experience all of what it should be and more! I will definitely continue to come back and continue to refer new business!

One of the best massages I've ever had. I almost feel asleep I was so relaxed. Kyrie was amazing! I had the 90 min rose quartz Gua Sha massage. My face felt amazing after the Gua Sha massage.

New to the area and wanted to try this place out as I need more of a 'fixing things' massage practitioner. Went in for 30 minutes with Kyrie to try it out and she did more for me in that small amount of time than anywhere else in the area I've been so far. Amazing! I will be back and this is definitely my new go-to massage place.
